Community Gardens around the globe are promoting healthy lifestyles and environmental awareness.

And during the current, harvest season, they are also giving us fresh produce - healthy fruits and vegetables.

Knowing how beneficial community gardens can be for a community, and not forgetting the fact that besides the aforementioned benefits they also promote social interaction between different generations, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company has been a good sponsor for community gardens in the U.S. already for decades.

And in 2011 they also launched a campaign called GRO1000, a campaign to install 1000 gardens and green spaces across the U.S., Canada and Europe by the year 2018. They have already managed to help 262 different organizations enhance their communities through both monetary and in-kind help. In many communities, thanks to the program, fresh produce is grown for the first time.
