Liverpool, a place that has been home to Cilla Black and The Beatles, has been voted Britain's most musical city.
The city, which is also this year's European Capital of Culture, scooped the top spot in a public poll.
It was followed by Sheffield, birthplace of the Arctic Monkeys and Pulp.
Manchester, whose acts include Oasis, the Stone Roses, The Smiths, New Order, Joy Division, the Happy Mondays, and Take That, came third.
Leicester - home of Kasabian, Showaddywaddy and Engelbert Humperdinck - was fourth, followed by Birmingham, which is associated with Jamelia, Duran Duran, UB40, and Black Sabbath.
Despite being a home to The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Clash, The Jam, Madness, Razorlight, Estelle, and Amy Winehouse amongst others, London only came eighth after Brighton and Bristol.
Colchester, which boasts Blur and Jamiroquai, was ninth followed by Newcastle.
