An Australian woman saved her pet kitten by punching a python who was crushing it in its jaws.
Ruth Butterworth, 58, from Brisbane, suffered two snake bites and broke her wrist while attempting to rescue her pet Tuffy.
She said: "I just started punching the thick part where it was about the size of my arm. I just kept punching until it let go." Butterworth said it was nearly dark when she saw the python's silhouette as she called Tuffy's name, but the feline was unaware of the dangerous serpent.
