Washington, Dec 28 : The Library of Congress has announced the list of 25 films that it has picked up and added to its national registry this year.

The list, which was announced by Librarian of Congress James H. Billington, includes films like 'Back to the Future,' 'Bullitt,' 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind,' 'Days of Heaven' and 'Dances With Wolves.'

The 25 films selected films bring the registry total to 475, reports Variety.

Each year the Librarian of Congress chooses 25 'culturally, historically or aesthetically' significant films for the registry to be preserved for all time.

Among the other films selected this year are 'The Naked City,' 'In a Lonely Place,' 'Oklahoma!' '12 Angry Men,' 'The Strong Man,' and 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.'
