Months before Benazir's assassination on December 27, 2007, in Rawalpindi, Eric Margolis had advised her in e-mail about this.
In an email sent to Benazir, on October 30, on a new political strategy for her Peoples Party, Margolis concluded: "for your public appearances, follow India's tight security measures for its prime minister. Consider new, lightweight body armour, Dragonskin," reported edmontonsun.com.
"By phone, I warned of snipers," Margolis added.
Margolis notes that while President Pervez Musharraf pleads innocent, "his henchmen ordered the crime scene hosed down, destroyed evidence, and forced doctors who examined Benazir's body to make the preposterous claim a fall, not bullets, killed her."
He further said that "He (Musharraf) called in Britain's Scotland Yard to investigate her murder, but only after all evidence was destroyed."
Days after the first attempt to kill Benazir at her reception rally on October 18, 2007 in Karachi, Margolis said that she had told him that she "suspected" a government security agency chief to be behind the bombing.
"She repeated to me accusations that two other high-ranking Punjabi government officials, one a chief minister, were out to kill her," Margolis wrote in the article.
He further said that the disgruntled Benazir's family members charge that her People's Party has elected her husband Asif Ali Zardari as co-chairman and 19-year-old son, Bilawal, as Chairman, using "a fake will". (ANI)
