New Delhi, June 2 : Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, offered special prayers at the historic Jama Masjid for the first time here on Sunday.

Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, offered special prayers at the historic Jama Masjid for the first time here on Sunday.

Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the chief cleric of the Jama Masjid, accompanied him.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was also present at the prayer meet.

The Tibetan spiritual leader paying his first visit to Jama Masjid urged leaders across the world to spread values of tolerance, peace and amity and held India as a model of communal harmony.

The Dalai Lama was in Delhi to inaugurate the 'Global Conference on Terrorism' where he said that it was wrong to brand Muslims as terrorists because of the views of a few mischievous people.

The Dalai Lama strongly denounced moves to brand the Muslim community as ' terrorists' in the wake of the recent spurt in terror activities in India. (ANI)
