Lahore, Dec 19 : Pakistan's star batsman Muhammad Yousuf is reportedly facing a financial loss of 300,000 dollar for not playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Pakistan's star batsman Muhammad Yousuf is reportedly facing a financial loss of 300,000 dollar for not playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
An Indian arbitration court on Saturday ordered a stay on the veteran batsman signing up with the IPL.
Yousuf had earlier terminated his contract with the Indian Cricket League (ICL) in August after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Nasim Asharaf persuaded him to play for Pakistan.
He then signed a contract with the IPL but that contract seems to be in danger after the ruling of the Mumbai court.
The IPL had named Yousuf as one of its 34 international signings, with reports citing that the Pakistan batsman would be drawing a salary of 300,000 dollar per annum.
A final hearing on the case will be held on December 21, the Daily Times reported.
Essel Group's excecutive president Ashish Kaul has said that it has been the ICL's attempt to ensure Yousuf does get penalised for breaching his contract with the ICL.
Meanwhile, the PCB chief has said that it is the duty of the IPL to safeguard the interests of Yousuf, who is in Saudi Arabia these days to perform Haj. (ANI)
