London, Dec 7 : The world's first museum dedicated to legendary pop group Abba is set to open in the band's hometown, Stockholm in June 2009.
The world's first museum dedicated to legendary pop group Abba is set to open in the band's hometown, Stockholm in June 2009.

Initiators of the museum, Ulf Westman and his wife Ewa Wigenheim declared at a presentation of their plans in Stockholm on Dec 5, that they will launch the complex between 'June 3 to 7, it will be an inaugural week."

The pair added that "it will be an international museum with a lot of technological and multimedia aspects."

Westman said that visitors would be invited to take part in various forms of activities related to the group's heyday in the 1970s.

Visitors will, for instance, be able to take the microphone and record their own version of "Waterloo" or "Dancing Queen" in a model of the Polar Studio in Stockholm where the quartet recorded their hits.

They will also be able to show off their moves in a disco room, according to the first drawings of the building presented by Westman.

The three-floor complex will also feature a wardrobe room dedicated to the band's famous fashions, reports BBC.

All four members of ABBA, Bjoern Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Faeltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad have given their backing to the project and will provide clothes, instruments and music.

In a statement released last year when early plans for the museum were revealed, the group said: "It is nice someone feels compelled to take on our musical history." (ANI)
