Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki has that the United States has officially submitted a note requesting that Iran attend talks on Iraq, and Tehran has agreed.

"The negotiations are in line with the policy of assisting Iraqi people and government with the aim of establishing stability and security in the country, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has accepted it," the Tehran Times quoted Mottaki as saying after a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Walid Moallem.

The U.S. made the request through the Swiss Embassy in Tehran that represents its interest section in Iran.

The exact time of the fourth Iran-U.S. meeting will be announced soon, Mottaki said.

Three rounds of talks between U.S. and Iranian officials have already taken place this year.

U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker, and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Kazemi Qomi, held face-to-face talks in May and July, and senior officials from both countries also met in Baghdad in August. (ANI)
