Baghdad, Mar 27, (VOI) - Three civilians were wounded on Thursday in clashes that flared up between gunmen and Iraqi security forces in southwestern Baghdad, a medical source said.
“Yarmouk hospital in Baghdad received three civilians wounded in armed clashes that flared up in al-Shurta al-Rabeaa region in southwestern Baghdad,” the source, who wished to remain anonymous, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI).
Eyewitnesses had earlier said that armed clashes erupted in al-Shurta al-Rabeaa region between security forces and gunmen after the latter attacked the region with mortar shells.
“The shells targeted a police checkpoint, forcing them to respond,” a security source explained.
