Britain's Prince Charles will travel by public train for only the fourth time ever on Valentine's Day.

The prince will take a Eurostar train to Brussels, in Belgium, where he will give a speech to the European Parliament on February 14, but has insisted on returning to London in time for a romantic evening with wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

A royal aide told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "Charles will be taking the train to give his lecture on Valentine's Day but he is going to make sure he is back to see Camilla in the evening."

Despite his much-publicised aim to reduce his carbon footprint - the amount of harmful carbon emissions for which a person is responsible - Charles has always been reluctant to use public transport, which is considered the most environmentally-friendly way to travel.

A spokesman for Clarence House, Charles' London residence, said the prince's Valentine's Day speech will discuss climate change and the British government's key priority.

They said: "It will help raise the profile of climate change in the European Union and advance key British government priorities not only on the promotion of climate change, but also inter-faith dialogue, sustainable development and social cohesion."
