Britain's Queen Elizabeth is reportedly "furious" with her son Prince Andrew over his criticism of the US government over the Iraq war.
The queen is angry that Andrew broke with royal protocol by commenting on a sensitive political issue and publicly criticising America for failing to "listen" to advice from UK concerning the conflict with the Middle East country.
A source told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "The queen is furious with Andrew's comments. He should not have strayed into such sensitive areas."
Senior British political figures have also expressed dismay at Andrew's comments about the war, which began in 2003 when the US invaded the country over claims they were harbouring weapons of mass destruction.
Sir Menzies Campbell, leader of Britain's House of Commons' foreign affairs select committee, said: "These are stormy waters. Prince Andrew would be well advised to steer clear of them. I imagine that the Foreign Office and the Prime Minister Gordon Brown are not best pleased by his intervention."
In an interview with the International Herald Tribune newspaper to mark the beginning of Andrew's 11-day trip to the US as Britain's Special Trade Ambassador, the prince said: "There have been occasions when people in the UK would wish that those in responsible positions in the US might listen and learn from our experiences as a colonial power. We understand how to operate in a military insurgency campaign and should have been listened to.
"There has been a feeling of 'why didn't anyone listen to what was said and the advice that was given?'. "
