Politics not my place: Brad Pitt

thecheers.org    2007-12-19 06:04:02

Washington, Dec 19: Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt has ruled out reports that he is getting ready to step into the political arena.
Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt has ruled out reports that he is getting ready to step into the political arena.

The 44-year-old star is firm never to launch a bid for office, as he feels it's not his place.

"Not a chance. (That's) the same reason I won't direct. I don't think it's my place. Besides, you can create acts of social disobedience from the outside," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

The 'Mr and Mrs Smith' actor has highlighted the plight of the homeless in New Orleans, Louisiana, after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and has initiated the 'Make It Right project' to provide new houses for survivors.

However, Pitt hopes that the rolling problems of New Orleans will be mentioned in the 2008 U.S. Presidential elections.

"It certainly illuminated that a certain portion of society is not being looked after. I think it should be one of the major issues of the upcoming campaign," Pitt said.

"This is a proving ground for so many issues: education, health reform, poverty level, unemployment (and) violence that comes from these conditions," he added. (ANI)
