Eddie Murphy will be reviving the 'Beverly Hills Cop' franchise by signing on for the fourth movie in the series.
The actor will return once again as Detroit detective Axel Foley for Paramount Pictures.
The studio is in negotiations with Brett Ratner to direct the pic, with 2009 production in mind and a summer 2010 release scheduled.
On board as producer will be Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
However, Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original "Beverly Hills Cop" trilogy with late partner Don Simpson won't be actively involved in the new film, reports Variety.
Released in 1984, the original 'Beverly Hills Cop' grossed 316 million dollars globally.
