Washington, May 12 : American pop princess Britney Spears has been asked to make a second appearance on the "How I Met Your Mother" show, and she may very well be returning for a third time.

The CBS comedy, which became popular with Spears' cameo, had its show's co-creator Craig Thomas writing a script during Monday's episode in which a door has been left open for the pop singer to make a return.
"She was better than the first time and I think the fans will enjoy it because her return answers a larger mystery set up earlier in the series," the Hollywood Reporter quoted Thomas as having said to THR.com.
"So there's a good plot reason why she's there. And when people watch Britney's second appearance on the show they'll see that the door is still open for her to come back," he added.
When Spears joined the show first time round, it got the highest rating ever and it has since then maintained an elevated audience level compared to last year.
Once considered on the bubble for a fall renewal, the critically acclaimed comedy is now considered a lock to return next season. (ANI)
