Bollywood filmmaker Ravi Tandon conferred with Dadasaheb Phalke award

Mumbai, Apr 30 : Bollywood director Ravi Tandon was on Wednesday awarded with country's most coveted cine honour, the Dadasaheb Phalke at Mumbai, for making some of the landmark films during the 1970s.

Bollywood director Ravi Tandon was on Wednesday awarded with country's most coveted cine honour, the Dadasaheb Phalke at Mumbai, for making some of the landmark films during the 1970s.

Ravi Tandon received acclaim for his cinematic works like "Anhonee", "Khel Khel Mein" and "Khuddar".

"I am most excited and thrilled that people have recognised my work. I am so thankful. I owe the credit for my success to my entire family, father, mother, wife, daughter," said the filmmaker.

Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon and Ravi Tandon's daughter said that her father who delivered several super hits in the '70s, experimented with a lot of genres.

"I am very thankful. My father is very thankful to the industry especially the Dada Saheb Academy for recognizing his work today. He says that from a junior artist, he became a director. His hard work has paid off. So he is very excited. We are all excited," she said.

Ravi Tandon worked with several leading lights of Bollywood including Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar.

He also launched his son in a film called "Ek Main Aur Ek Tu" which was a super hit.

Apart from Ravi Tandon, filmmaker BR Chopra was also conferred the prestigious Phalke Ratna award and Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna received Phalke Golden Actor award at the ceremony. (ANI)
