Music mogul Quincy Jones will not be following in Steven Spielberg's footsteps and stepping down as the 2008 Olympics' musical director.

Spielberg stepped down as the Beijing Olympics' artistic director earlier this year, over China's refusal to help end genocide in the war-torn Darfur region of Sudan, but Jones says that he will not be doing the same.

Speaking before an appearance at the Committee of 100's Annual Conference in Beverly Hills on Saturday (19Apr08), the mogul told the Los Angeles Times newspaper, that isolating China would not solve the issues.

"In times like this, people have to sit down with each other and talk things out... You don't solve anything with isolation. Everyone has to make their own decision and I'm sticking with this one until we get something done," Contactmusic quoted him, as telling the paper.

He revealed that he had met with Chinese officials at the United Nations in New York on April 18, to reiterate his concerns about Darfur and his hopes for peace. (ANI)
