Leona Lewis is auctioning her Roberto Cavalli BRITs dress for charity

thecheers.org    2008-03-11 06:52:20

Cavalli said: "It's been a great pleasure for me to work with Leona Lewis right from the start. She has an incredible voice, beautiful eyes, and a fresh and positive attitude."
The stunning bespoke purple gown, which the British singer wore for her performance of ‘Bleeding Love’ at the prestigious music awards ceremony in London last month, will be sold on eBay with all proceeds going directly to UK charity Sport Relief.

Cavalli said: "It's been a great pleasure for me to work with Leona Lewis right from the start. She has an incredible voice, beautiful eyes, and a fresh and positive attitude.

"I'm happy that a dress I have created for her for an important occasion is now being auctioned for a charity. It's a sign of her great generosity and I'm proud that the name Roberto Cavalli is linked to it."

The Cavalli team worked for nearly 50 hours to make and embroider the dress from over 55 metres of material, with the bodice hand-encrusted with thousands of Swarovski crystals.

Sport Relief "harnesses the power and passion of sport to change lives for the better", with the main event taking place on March 16, as thousands of sponsored competitors take part in the Sport Relief Mile.

Money raised through Sport Relief is spent by Comic Relief to help vulnerable people in the UK and across the world's poorest countries.

Proceeds from Leona's new double A-side single, 'Footprints In The Sand'/ 'Better in Time', will go to the charity.
