Traditionally, pink, yellow and red flags or couplets are displayed written with Chinese characters indicating business prosperity. However, some businesses are now fond of displaying Japan’s Fortune Cat, Maneki Neko, at a prominent front spot at their shops.
Some go for the figurine itself, while others choose to place pictures of the Fortune Cat at their shop areas. Although the trend is not wide-spread as yet, the proportion of business owners choosing Maneki Neko as their business icon is increasing.
